“It is difficult to imagine a more rewarding and enjoyable night out” What’s On Stage
“Ground-breaking new theatre from across Europe” The Guardian
“A bonanza of European performance” The Stage

For the fourth time, we are delighted to be welcoming Birmingham’s genre-bending European arts festival to Holbeck, as it takes to the road and shines a light on the best of the continent’s new theatre, dance and performance art.
Experience the highlights of the 2016 festival, with three extraordinary 30 minute-long shows from Switzerland, Germany and Italy.

Situation with Outstretched Arm (Oliver Zahn) examines the Hitler Salute, one of the most powerful and violent symbols of the 20th century. It is given new meaning on stage in a production which takes a unique, cross-disciplined approach to explore a controversial symbol.

Vacuum from Companie Philippe Saire is a transcendental performance by one of Europe’s leading creators of experimental choreography, where movement and visual arts converge and bodies weave through black holes and shards of dazzling light.

Central to Samuel Beckett’s philosophy of failure and its benefits – ‘fail and then fail better’ – is the concept of interruption. Overload by Sotteraneo explores that idea through a series of interruptions with comic, surprising and shocking results.

Running time:  2 hours 30 mins including post show discussion and inclusive (vegan) supper!

“The evening is structured like a fresh and tasty three course meal” The Times

“Some of the most innovative work being made across Europe” The Guardian

'I have put Holbeck in my address for the last two years but today was the first time I discovered the heart of it - I had no idea about the pubs, social clubs, quaint back to back terraces and history that makes up the real Holbeck, south of the canal.  A big thanks to Slung Low for opening my eyes to a place I have claimed to call home.'  - Audience Member
