Buster Keaton & Charlie Chaplin : An afternoon of classic silent film comedy

26th July 2015 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
A Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin film matinee. An afternoon of classic silent film comedy
Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, two of the greatest silent clowns, both visited Leeds during their variety and music hall careers. Now they’re back – albeit in celluloid form – in this triple bill of short silent film comedies. The characters they created are still instantly recognisable almost a century later; Charlie Chaplin’s impish little tramp and modest little Buster Keaton with his porkpie hat and clip-on tie.

In Buster Keaton’s One Week (1920, 18 minutes) newly married Buster builds his own house. In his 1922 film Cops (18 minutes) Buster is pursued through the streets by the entire Los Angeles Police Department.
In Chaplin’s Easy Street (1917, 28 minutes) Charlie becomes a cop himself and takes on the roughest street in the city.

Silent film pianist Jonathan Best will accompany the show live.

There is a very limited capacity so to reserve a ticket please email boxoffice@slunglow.org with the number of tickets you wish to reserve and a contact telephone number.

Tickets will be “Pay What You Decide” which means you will pay the company AFTER the show.
