HOW TO…FESTIVAL 7: Make ‘Em Laugh!
Join us at the Holbeck Underground Ballroom for a day packed full of comedy, humour and merriment with affordable ‘£ Pay What You Decide’ workshops and performances.
And because it’s the How To… Festival you’ll learn new skills though out the day; learn how to make the entertainment and the food. No experience necessary !
At 11.00am Cooking With Manjit.
Back by popular demand, Manjit’s Kitchen lead a workshop where she demonstrates how to cook delicious vegetarian Indian dishes and curries, and you can then have a go at creating them yourselves – all ingredients and equipment are provided for you.
From 2:00pm – 4pm Handheld Arts’ Laboratory of Laughter (L.O.L.) (for young audiences)
L.O.L have received reports of significant “funny goings on” and have decided to send a small team to investigate.
This will be a rare opportunity to join the team inside their mobile response laboratory and assist in the collection of data relating to Holbeck as a hotbed of humorous activity.
In a further effort to raise awareness of their work, L.O.L. will be displaying some artefacts of humorous interest from their research archive to members of the public for the very first time.
3pm – 4:15pm Writing for Comedy Workshop led by Rebecca Papworth
Rebecca Papworth is a Creative Producer and Executive with 20 years experience at senior level. A comedy specialist whose credits include ‘Rab C Nesbitt’, ‘Have I got News For You’, ‘I Love the 80’s’, ‘Gavin & Stacey’, ‘Candy Cabs’ and ‘Citizen Khan’. Currently producing BBC1 comedy drama series ‘Home from Home’ starring Johnny Vegas and Emilia Fox, which she developed from scratch. Bringing a wealth of experience in writing, with an MA with distinction in scriptwriting from Salford University and a stint in commissioning at the BBC, Rebecca has a broad portfolio of experience to share.
This session will explore:
Starring a medley of characters, overwhelmed by a love of a show-stopping song and performed using only a scarf, this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is an Art Show, made with love by an idiot.
