Finale (Closing of the Liverpool Everyman)
In July 2011 Slung Low were invited by the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse to create an event to mark the demolition of the Everyman Theatre.
During the daytime people walked around the empty building experiencing a sound installation created from the recorded memories of past audiences, performers and staff.
In the evening Hope Street was closed to host a procession of past and future performers, a bagpiper, a jazz band, the youth theatre, a hidden choir singing Sound of Music, a JCB, speeches about the promise of a future, a dog with wings, a fire on the roof and some helium balloons.
Finale was made with Gemma Bodinetz and everyone at the Liverpool Everyman; Sense of Sound Choir; Chris Rodenhurst; Stuart Richman; Helen Carter; Jess Schofield; Alan Brocks; Stephen Fletcher; Robert Walters; Whitney Suku; The Lantern Band; Doug Nicholson and Billy the Dog.
