A new Moby Dick

We are working on a new adaptation of the novel Moby Dick by playwright James Phillips. Working with performer Oliver Senton, designer David Farley and Pif Paf’s Pete Gunson.

In July 2013 we spent a week with the youth theatre down at The New Wolsley Theatre, Ipswich working on the material. We had a great time and realised the piece should in fact be called The White Whale.

Later in July 2013 we spent a week developing the ideas and texts in to a development performance with Opera North. Working Cellist Oliver Coates and Sorprano Anna Dennis an evening of text and music was created for an audience to watch standing on a bridge.  The photos below are from that performance and rehearsals. The performance was photographed by Anthony Chippendale, the rehearsals by Tom Arber.

The White Whale will return in 2014MobyDick-1975
