Légende by Romain Teule (France/Portugal)
A performance lecture on the nature of language, Légende unpicks the different kinds of questions produced by words. Beginning with a fictional language of the birds, Romain Teules show probes the different possibilities to be found in words. Living and working between France and Portugal, his show was originally performed in Portuguese; adapting it for BE 2017, his existential questions will now be posed in English. Uncovering the instances where words fail, and what powers they have, its a thoughtful show prompting re-evaluations about what things we take for granted.
ANDRÉ and DORINE by Kulunka Teatro (Spain)
In a small room, the frantic tapping on a typewriter, is embellished daily with the notes of a cello. André and Dorine, an elderly couple who, like so many others, have fallen into a rut, forgetting what one day united them. From the walls hangs the framed past, as the only testimony of what they shared. But an event, the illness, will be responsible for shaking the dust of their relationship, forcing them to remember who they were, to reconnect with who they are. Remember how they have loved, to continue loving.
What Does Stuff Do? by Robin Boon Dale (UK)
Using innovative juggling, physical comedy, and almost-philosophy to guide you through Robin Dales mind and body of research. Featuring pouring, ping pong, and a motivational speech delivered by a man in swimming trunks, this is a charmingly rhetorical debut show. Please, suspend any scepticism about the value of the totally obvious. A recent graduate from Circomedia in Bristol, Robin has been training in object manipulation and physical theatre. He performs in a wide variety of styles, including contemporary circus, stand-up comedy, and cabaret/burlesque.
