Presented by China Plate & Staatstheater Mainz
Written by Chris Thorpe, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin
Commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre, Warwick Arts Centre and Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg.
We all have a nationality.
Or almost all of us.
Status is a show about someone who doesn’t want his any more. About
running away from the national story you’re given. About who is responsible for that story and what might happen to it if you give it up.
A globe-spanning journey of attempted escape, with songs along the way.

About The Holbeck :
The Holbeck is a community club that welcomes everyone, run by Slung Low.
Our address is The Holbeck, Jenkinson Lawn, Holbeck, LS119QXThis show is “Pay What You Decide” – you decide how much to pay after you have taken part.
The show has a limited capacity, so if you change your mind before the event, please let us know by emailing boxoffice@slunglow.org to ensure we don’t turn others away unnecessarily.
Please note that the venue is cash only.
This event takes place up one set of stairs. There is a new stairlift on our main staircase. We have recently taken over the running of the venue and are currently raising funds for a lift to make the theatre fully accessible. If you would like to discuss your access requirements, don’t hesitate to give us a call on 0113 226 0808.
Parking:
We have recently installed a new lockable bike shed next to the front door and you can get the code for the door from a member of Slung Low.
The Holbeck has a free car park. Please do use it. If there’s no spaces left please don’t park in the street immediately around the club: this is permit only and you’ll get a very expensive ticket which we’d hate. There’s permit free parking on Holbeck Moor Road which is just 50 metres away: it’s the road that runs alongside the park.
